Sappuukei
(殺風景)
Murdering the Scenery
先入観を抜いて話せ
臆病者のあたしを許せ
絶妙なタイミング寄越せ
殺風景な都市の狂騒
Talk once you’ve removed your prejudice
Forgive me and my cowardice
Give me impeccable timing’s essence
Here lies the mania of a ghost town

情緒不安定、ただの幻
全細胞を張り巡らして
石鹸色の夜に潜れ
A binder filled with restricted content
Emotional instability, it’s just an disillusioned conscious
Enwrap every one of your cells right
And submerge into a soap-colored night
全知全能の大人たちが
今日も賢く世界を滅ぼす
別世界みたいに他人事な
ワンルームで始める抵抗
The omniscient omnipotent adults
continue to wittily destroy the world
As if another’s misfortune is another world’s
Resistance begins in one studio apartment
チープで良い
イヤホンを刺せ
勘違って泣き踊り明かせ
我を忘れて転げ回れば
あたしのことも視得ないでしょう
I don’t care if it’s cheap
Plug in your headphones
Make mistakes and dance through the tears until the sun rises
Lose control and stumble around
There’s nothing to gain from watching me
ねえねえ
聴こえてますか
聴こえてなくてもあたしは言うよ
Hey hey
Can you hear me
If you can’t then I’ll still say it
巡り巡る輪廻の中ですら
この感覚は消えないんだ
Even if I cycled and cycled through rebirth
This sensation would never die out
君はいない
僕もいない
誰もいない
これが世界
これが世界
まわる世界
まわる世界
だ
You’re gone
I’m gone
Everyone’s gone
This is the world
This is the world
A rotating world
A rotating world
It is
先入観を抜いて話せ
臆病者のあたしを許せ
絶妙なタイミング寄越せ
殺風景な都市の狂騒
Talk once you’ve removed your prejudice
Forgive me and my cowardice
Give me impeccable timing’s essence
The mania of a ghost town
Keynotes
The kanji of “Sappuukei (殺風景)” would literally translate to murderous scenery. murdering the scenery.
The writer and the guitarist’s official comments on the song. Translated from Hitori-Atelier Official Fan Club site! blog (https://privatter.net/p/4387452) - Post’s password is in all lower-case, five letter word.
The “binder filled with restricted content~” verse or the “Talk once you’ve removed your prejudice~” verse etc. purposely play with syllables. wowaka himself seems to put intricate attention into replicating each sound, not just rhymes, but the corresponding constants within each word too. So I tried to translate as best as I could.
Shinoda: This title is ridiculously good
ygarshy: So angry.
Shinoda: So breathtaking
ygarshy: Do you remember what happened when we were making the song?
Yumao: i have a mighty detailed memory!
ygarshy: Tell us.
Yumao: K! Hohoho, this song is hostile so, its finally the first song I used a twin pedal on! It’s impossible to do with a single. After studying the art of the twin pedal for the past half~ year, this song is the fruit of all my practice! For literally one phrase, at the end I explode!
ygarshy: Is that so. That part of the song is going to make us laugh now, if we listen for it.
Shinoda: Also, I remember just crying ‘When are we going to be done with this song’. The tempo had felt so damn nabbing fast against my body.
Yumao: Ah~ ain’t that the truth. ‘Cause we started talking about opening a new frontier.
ygarshy: …I used so much expensive gear on the recording.
Yumao: That’s true ygarshy did use all expensive stuff (laughing). When you play on one certain instrument for so long then you cling to it, it’s like a picky diet disliking other things before you try it. Ah, didn’t your bass amps break a bunch this time also? wwwww
ygarshy: …That wasn’t my fault …They broke down 3 times, own their own…
Yumao: We use a lot of old vintage instruments after all, so they cripple.
ygarshy: It’s not as if I’m self-righteous of it or such, I simply like it so I use it. I’m losing more money [with repairs, I think] than it’s worth but,
Shinoda: I like cheap guitars and jazz masters all the same though.
ygarshy: Shinoda that’s because you’re just an ornament.
Shinoda: Not my instruments,, I am?!
